Transmedia Art Walk by the Cultural Action Committee

Created and developed by the Cultural Action Committee, Davis CA.

Guided tours are available upon request and meet in front of the John Natsoulas Gallery. Join us for a guided tour or walk the tour anytime at your convenience. The sculptures contain an interactive surface that serves as a blank canvas where artists, participants, and visitors can leave messages and stories. Messages can also be left on the walls of the virtual sculptures and in the comments sections for the interactive videos.

Interact, explore, and share art in the outdoor environment. We are placing transmedia sculptures in urban settings in Northern California. Silent images, paintings, and sculptures invoke memories from the past. Local artist Deborah Bridges (www.studiobridges.com) and XtremeSignPost have made several interactive masks. Each piece has several RFID tags embedded in concrete. They are highly resistant to rain, snow, and tropical sunlight. Each tag can be updated on the fly using RFID enabled cell phones. On the sculptures, we have written links to poetry, music, and video files. The sculptures contain an interactive surface that serves as a blank canvas where artists, participants, and visitors can leave messages and stories.

Our Story
Amy & Bill Capture Davis…
is a story about falling in love with the little things
by falling in love with the big things
by way of falling in love.
1999: a short boy and a tall girl fell in love and began exploring life together. At first what we noticed was how new the whole world looked. We dreamed big dreams and wanted to see everything.
2005: after graduate school in Richmond, VA, we packed up and headed west for our “real jobs” in Davis, CA. We began to slow down and notice the beauty of the seasons at the Farmers Market.
2008: Our first child was born. We began to notice the gifts of everyday and how little toes and sunlight could make our heads spin; our shared passion for capturing life began.
Today: Some of life’s milestones have been experienced (including a second child!) and it seems we’re now exploring what it’s like to grow deeper. We’re noticing the gift of right now.
We hope you enjoy our work. Come and visit us soon! -Amy & Bill
