DMF is a three day multi-venue multi-genre live music event showcasing local, regional and touring artists – all to benefit our Davis public schools’ art, music and performing arts programs. It is referred to as Davis’ version of SXSW in a single weekend, and for a great cause!

On April 25, 2018 from 6pm to 8pm at the United States Bicycling Hall of Fame, Davis Downtown hosted the 2018 Davis Downtown Candidate Forum. All nine candidates running for the Davis City Council were on-hand to answer questions in front of a standing-room only audience.

Candidates running for the Davis City Council are:

  • Ezra Beeman
  • Mary Jo Bryan
  • Dan Carson
  • Linda Deos
  • Eric Gudz
  • Larry Guenther
  • Gloria Partida
  • Luis Rios Jr.
  • Mark West

There were four rounds of questions for the candidates. In rounds 1 and 2, questions were developed by Davis Downtown. Round 3 was the ‘Candidate to Candidate’ section. Round 4 questions came from downtown business owners and from the audience. Round 1 included opening statements from each candidate. Round 4 includes closing statements from each candidate.

2018 Davis Downtown Candidate Forum

Davis Downtown is hosting a City Council Candidate Forum so downtown businesses and the community can learn more about the nine (9) candidates vying for the two available seats on the Davis City Council.

The nine candidates running in the 2018 Davis City Council race and participating in this forum are (in alphabetical order): Ezra Beeman, Mary Jo Bryan, Dan Carson, Linda Deos, Eric Gudz, Larry Guenther, Gloria Partida, Luis Rios Jr, and Mark West.

The Q&A-based forum will focus on the issues facing our community with a specific focus on the issues related to downtown Davis. Some of the focus areas will be:

  • Parking
  • Economic Development
  • Crime/Safety
  • City Budget
  • Campus/Student Relations
  • Arts & Entertainment
  • Tourism
  • Homelessness/Panhandling
  • Cannabis

Location

The Davis Downtown Candidate Forum will be held on Wednesday, April 25, 2018, from 6:00pm to 8:00pm at the United States Bicycling Hall of Fame, 303 3rd Street in downtown Davis.

The Davis Downtown Candidate Forum is free and open to the public.

Survey

Questions for the Davis Downtown Candidate Forum are being selected from a variety of sources. Downtown business owners and community members are encouraged to submit their questions through a brief online survey.

Questions will also be accepted from the audience at the forum.  Attendees will be able to submit questions and have them asked directly to the candidates, time permitting.

Moderators for the 2018 Davis Downtown Candidate forum will be Joshua Chapman, President of the Davis Downtown Board of Directors and owner of Armadillo Music, and Sheri Hein, Vice-President of the Davis Downtown Board of Directors and owner of Freewheeler Bicycle Center.
