Tree lighting is this week! The City of Davis hosts the 43rd annual Candlelight Parade and Tree Lighting Ceremony on Thursday, Dec. 5. The Candlelight Parade starts promptly at 6 p.m. and will kick off from the Davis Food Co-op parking lot (620 G Street) and conclude at the E Street Plaza.

Families and residents of all ages interested in participating in the parade should arrive before 5:45 p.m. in the Co-op parking lot. Parade parking will not be available in the Food Co-op parking lot or in the E Street Plaza parking lot.

In addition to the tree lighting, the following activities will be available:

*Performances and original pieces performed by a variety of local groups starting at 6 p.m. - *Horse and carriage rides
*Roaming mascot characters
*Photo op with Santa and Mrs. Claus starting at 6:30 p.m.
*Free showings of the short film “Olaf’s Frozen Adventure” at the Varsity Theatre at 6 p.m., 6:40 p.m. and 7:20 p.m.

Join the Davis Phoenix Coalition as they celebrate winter holidays around the world.

In partnership with the Davis Food Co-op, they will bring synthetic ice skating to the community once again this year. Each day will highlight a culture activity celebrated during the winter season.

Dates: December 5th-8th
Time: 1pm-7pm
$15 includes skate rental

The Davis Downtown is encouraging downtown visitors to shop small this holiday season starting on Shop Small Saturday November 30th through the end of December.

Shoppers that spend $100 or more* in downtown Davis from November 30th through the annual Tree Lighting Ceremony downtown on December 5th can visit our booth at the Davis Tree Lighting to receive a free tote bag and entered into a drawing to win a Downtown Davis Gift Card!

We hope this will bring more shoppers downtown and support our downtown businesses during the busy holiday season.

*Proof of purchase from downtown merchants totaling $100 or more required to be eligible.
